"The Huntington Beach oil spill was devastating to our local economy and shut down our harbor, it sent such a negative message about Orange County and reservations were cancelled for months due to the fact people were seeing us in the news constantly. Once we were able to operate again we had lingering effects that our waters were still contaminated and had to travel far distances to fish, cancelling our short trips. The oil spill was so devastating to our marine birds and other wild life. It was devastating to see, but could have been so much worse. We must not only stop expanded oil drilling; we must also invest in what is there now so there are no more spills or leaks."
