Offshore Oil Drilling is BaD for Business

Welcome to the Business Alliance for Protecting the Pacific Coast (BAPPC)

We are a coalition of 8,250+ member businesses and entrepreneurs who agree offshore oil drilling is bad for business, our local coastal economies, and our natural environment. BAPPC educates stakeholders at the local, regional, state, and national level about the need for permanent protections from offshore drilling for our businesses, customers, and coastal communities.

About BAPPC

Our coalition takes action to protect our coast and stop all future offshore drilling projects.

BAPPC fights to protect California, Oregon, and Washington coastlines from future oil spills that disrupt our businesses and harm our communities. Coastal businesses, working families, and local economies all pay the price when offshore drilling accidents happen. Our coalition gathers and shares information on federal and local drilling efforts, provides action alerts on upcoming legislation and events, and advocates to maintain local control over our waterfronts. We invite you to join us! Pledging your support for BAPPC takes just two-clicks and a few minutes and it's absolutely FREE.

Our beaches, waterfronts, and local businesses are worth more than the short-term gains of offshore oil development.

“Oil spills threaten more than California’s coastline, they can damage the habitats that local fish species such as California halibut depend on. When these ecosystems are harmed or local fisheries are forced to close, it limits the sustainable California seafood that restaurants like Pacific Catch can provide to our guests. Protecting our coastal waters means protecting the future of locally-sourced seafood.”

SUN'Y

"Offshore oil and gas drilling threatens our business by damaging the beaches our customers rely on. Spills reduce tourism, hurt coastal retailers and hotels we partner with and undermine trust in our sustainability mission. When coastlines are polluted, demand for beach products drops immediately and our sales follow. Healthy, clean oceans and beaches mean the coast can actually be used and enjoyed without hesitating about pollution. It’s where families spend time, kids play and communities gather. When the shoreline is protected, it stays a place people want to be and not something they avoid."
