Sable Pipeline and Infrastructure Bill Update

GOOD NEWS! BAPPC representatives testified before the CA Natural Resources Committee along with other witnesses on behalf of AB1448 and SB542. These bills offer important new protections for offshore oil infrastructure to limit future oil spills and unnecessary and risky expansion of offshore drilling. May 19, 2025 marked the 10 year anniversary of the Refugio oil spill when the Plains All American Pipeline spilled more than 450,000 gallons of heavy crude from an underground pipeline on the Gaviota Coast. Today that pipeline is owned by Sable Offshore Corp., a Texas based oil company. Despite calls to complete necessary environmental reviews, Sable Corps. started pumping crude oil on May 15th
